Salso Pepper Shortage

Salso Pepper Shortage

A lot of focus has been on our nation’s economy and its effects on our society. From job losses to home foreclosures, people are grasping for any sign of hope. Luckily one man had a vision and a great campaign marketing team, that ran on hope.

Hope to change a lot of things in our country was offered. But there were also things overlooked. One of these overlooked items is the national shortage of peppers. Peppers are an everyday part of a lot of people’s lives, but not for long. If you haven’t noticed, your local grocery carries less stock and varieties of peppers. Farmers are struggling with their pepper crops and it is going to be a slow recovery.

I talked to some of my pepper suppliers and they are all being hit hard. They do not see hope in the future for peppers.

For the past two weeks, Salso has not been able to complete full production cycles due to the pepper shortage. More info soon, stay tuned.

Salso Gets it’s First Press

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

Salso made its debut at SergDun’s annual Tamale Day last weekend. A full recap of the event can be found at www.groceryeats.com. In short, a bunch of knuckle heads got together and with the guidance of Mexican Overseers, made tamales from scratch. The tamales had homemade masa and your choice of meat or cheese.

I busted out the Salso and left a bunch in the fridge for heads to take home. I had told a few people about it and I probably looked like an idiot who spent way too much time on the packaging, but as the saying goes, “Oh well.” I might have done a little too much politicking for people to taste it, but I tried to refrain and not overwhelm even though I was excited about feedback. Luckily a couple people liked the packaging and picked it up and would tell anyone else who was eying it “Alan made that.” Then the person would look at it more and be more intrigued. But the best part was the people that didn’t give a fuck who made it or what the package looked like. They were grubbin down on it. Most people that ate it were on repetition mode, grab a chip, dip, eat, grab a chip, dip, eat, over and over.

The Salso Street Team was born.

Free Refills!

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

Yes you read correctly. Salso comes with free refills. All you have to do is give your Salso bottle back to me and I will refill it and give it back to you. Easy! The best way to give the bottle back to me is to ship it to my pad or give it to me the next time you see me at the liquor store.

Why the hell am I giving out free refills? What a horrible business plan, right? Well this isn’t a business, its some dude who makes Salso for fun and enjoys the fact that other people like it. As long as my out-of-pocket expenses are low, it’s all good.

Take advantage of it before I change my mind.
